New Local Products to the Routine

Friday, 13 March 2020

If you ask me to use any local products five years ago, I will strongly avoid at all cost. If you ask me now, I will answer "Yes" but for certain brands only. I became more sceptical when it comes to local products due to the amount of mercury and the after-use effect from certain brands. Ever since I experienced bad acne and irritation skin after using the products, my skin became more sensitive and I had irritation due to the products I used in the past. I become extra careful with what I choose to use. I need to make sure that the products I am using are suitable and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. I feel jealous of someone who has unproblematic skin as they can use whatever skincare products they want. Unlucky me, I had to be choosy with my skincare routine.

Fast forward to now, I can say that most of the local skincare brands already step up their game. I like how transparent they are towards their products. They not hiding anything about their products, where they made it, what ingredients did they use, in fact, they showed us the behind-the-scenes of the making process to their customers. Some of the local brands that I really like and adore are Kayman Beauty, Yello Skincare, and some more. Eventhough they are focusing on one thing which is skincare, they support and compete fairly without downgrading each other brands. As a customer, this is something that I really look forward to and be proud of.

So, recently I wanted to restock my face soap and I also added a few products that I haven't tried to the cart. I have been seeing many good reviews of these products and people raving that it works wonder on their skin. That makes me want to try it even more. Shall we look at what I bought?

Kayman Beauty Coal Face Soap | This is not new to me. I have been using this for months and I think I am currently on the 5th bar already. That's how much I love this soap. I previously using the cleanser that has on the drugstores but ever since I found this soap, I don't look at all those cleansers. It is made from activated charcoal and pure honey, which are good for acne-prone skin. It is good for deep cleansing too. I like using this soap because my skin doesn't feel so tight or strip all the natural oils in my skin like other brand did and it still hydrates my skin at the same time.

Yello Skincare Oatmeal Turmeric Mask & Scrub |  I have been seeing good reviews about this product every single day on Twitter and that makes me want to try it so badly. I have acne scars on my face and I heard that this mask will help to fade away the scars and treat acne at the same time. What I like about this product is it is multipurpose where you can use it either as a mask or a scrub. You can even mix the product with other ingredients that you like such as green tea, coffee, aloe vera gel or even greek yoghurt. If not distilled water should be fine.

Jelita.kl Rose Clay Mask |  I didn't plan to get this at first but when I saw there is a trial size of this clay mask, I decided to just get it to give it a try. Plus I am in the process of searching a good clay mask for my oily skin. The main ingredients of this mask are kaolin clay and organic rose powder. This mask has the same concept as Yello OTMS where you can mix it with any liquid that you want.

I really cannot wait to try these new babies out. I really hope that it will help my skin especially with the scars that I have. Now that I have a few local products to my skincare routine, I am thinking of I have lots of trying out their other products like Yello Snowmeric Serum, Kayman Skintella Serum, Jelita.kl Saffron Toner.

What are your thoughts about local products in Malaysia?

  4. i bought the soap but it was for my sister. i was sceptical that the soap would be too harsh for me and i was surprised that it didn't strip off my face. tbh, it can a good choice for me to replace cetaphil.
